The mobile version of Dota Auto Chess has fully released on iOS today. The game is titled Auto Chess: Origin and is free to play, although there’re obviously in-game purchases. The project requires just slightly above half a gigabyte of free space on your device to be installed.
Now, the game is available on both Android and iOS, and its glorious march across mobile platforms has started officially. This standalone version, which has lost visual similarities to Dota 2, is a huge leap forward for the original mod in terms of controls. Interestingly, touchscreens suit the purposes of the tactical title a lot better; however, migration to smaller mobile displays might become an issue for some players unfamiliar with the original mod. The tricky situation is due to the fact that Auto Chess: Origin is more of a direct port to mobiles with all the initial overwhelming visual feedback and overcomplicated interface. While on PC there’s no trouble in focusing on various aspects of the unfolding events on a big screen, mobile devices might cause a lot of frustration.
Still, we are glad that the creators of the original mod found the way to work for themselves. Valve has nonetheless offered official support for the Drodo team with a special Auto Chess Pass in Steam thus once again showing how much the company cares for content creators.
