Danish esports organization Astralis won the BLAST Pro Series Global Final after defeating Team Liquid, 2-0 in the last series of the event.
Astralis ended 2018 at the top of the ladder, and now, in 2019, they do the same. This victory makes their sixth title of the year. Being one of the top teams in the world, matches between Team Liquid and Astralis have become something of a norm. This victory takes Astralis' victory toll to seven.
Astralis in-game leader Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander said in a statement after the match:
"I think we have been proving that we are the best team in the world, and to do it again just feels amazing. Of course, we will always have a lot of doubters, and a lot of people want to see us lose. We want to keep winning all the time, so the doubters can't say anything."
Astralis dominated Team Liquid on both Inferno and Nuke as they controlled each game and shut down all of the North American's attacks. The comeback Team Liquid had hoped for would not be at the BLAST Pro Series Grand Final. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen received the second MVP award of his career at the event, while FaZe Clan won +$20,000 from the Stand-off.
Here are the BLAST Pro Series Global Final standings:
- Astralis - $350,000
- Team Liquid - $80,000
- Ninjas in Pyjamas - $35,000
- FaZe Clan - $15,000
The BLAST Pro Series Global Final featured four teams fighting for a $500,000 prize pool at ISA Sports City, Riffa.
