This is a year of the Danish scene. And I am not talking only about Astralis who is the current best team in the world, but also about the Danish tournament organizer RFRSH Entertainment. People behind this project created a series of esport events around the world where you can see the best players of Counter-Strike world with your own eyes.
The last stop of this year was Lisbon, Portugal this weekend, where six invited teams - Astralis, Cloud9, NiP, FaZe, mibr and NaVi - fought for their share of $250,000 in prize money. As usual at this event, teams played against each other in a round-robin format with three best-of-one matches running simultaneously. There also was a bonus match, but more about this later, now let’s have a look on group stage.
Already as a tradition this year, Astralis were unbeatable and won all of their matches. Right behind them was their main opponent, Ukrainian Natus Vincere who won 3 of their 5 matches and booked the ticket to the grand final as well.
In the group stage, I really enjoyed the match between mibr and Cloud9, mostly because we could see the prodigy from the USA - swag - back in action. He was a stand-in for the Brazilian squad for this event. If you missed it, here is a highlight:
In the grand final, Danes were dominating like in the group stage, except for Overpass where NaVi won 16:7. Astralis showed us again who rules the CS:GO world at the moment.
This time it wasn’t dev1ce who earned the MVP award, but his teammate and rifler of the squad Emil "Magisk" Reif who ended up with a 1.39 K/D rating which is his second best performance at big event in his career.
Also, I promised you a special match. Classic 1-vs-1 on the stage: Cloud9 vs FaZe. Winner takes $20,000. Not bad, huh? You want to know how it ends?
