Today, Danish organisation Astralis defeated G2 Esports 2-0 to secure a spot in the DreamHack Masters Malmö playoffs.

Astralis awaits the winner of the match between ENCE and Team Vitality to determine their opponent for upper bracket round 3. The victor of their next and final group stage match will proceed to the playoffs.

The first map in today's series, Nuke had Astralis push the game into overtime. Following their victory in the extra rounds, Astralis was able to end the map, 19-16. The second map was Dust II which was an even better experience for Astralis. Dominating the game right from the start, they took 12 rounds in a row. Map point was achieved rather quickly with G2 eventually losing, 16-7.

On the other hand, powerhouse organisation's in Group B, Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses suffered upsets. Liquid lost 9-16 to OpTic Gaming, while Evil Geniuses were defeated by Grayhound, 10-16.

Their fatigue from the just concluded ESL One New York event is believed to be part of the reason for their defeat, especially for Evil Geniuses who won that event. Liquid will now face North in lower bracket round 1, while Evil Geniuses will need to defeat mousesports to proceed.

As for G2, they will meet the winner of TYLOO vs. Fnatic tomorrow in a best-of-three elimination match. DreamHack Masters Malmö has already begun to deliver unexpected results, making each moment an exciting and unpredictable thrill.
