Adam "Armada" Lindgren of Alliance has teamed up with Charlie "MoistCr1tikal" White to host The Quarantine Series Europe Edition, a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate online tournament.
As the name suggests, the tournament is open to European players only, with all competitors expected to use LAN adapters with their consoles to reduce instances of lag and such. The decision to region lock the event mirrors the original tournament series' move to allow only players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico to compete in it.
Tournament participants have been capped at 1,024 players with free sign-ups, but the initial dates of May 23-24, will no longer be feasible. With the event sharing conflicting dates with other online tournaments, The Quarantine Series Europe Edition will now take place from June 6-7. Additionally, tournament organizer VCA that had events clashing with Armada's for both weekends will now partner with The Quarantine Series Europe Edition.
The partnership means a bigger and better production, with details regarding VCA's part in the online tournament and subsequent changes to be communicated at a later date. The player cap will, however, not be adjusted.
The Quarantine Series Europe Edition currently features a $1,000 prize pool with payouts to the top 8 players. Sign-up is live on Smash.gg here.
