Apex Legends celebrates 50 million players in the first month ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!
Apex Legends, which presentation stream we followed, holding our breath and exhaling enthusiastically, clicking on the “download and play for free” button, was released a little less than a month ago - February 5th. The novelty managed to collect 1 million unique users in the first 8 hours and today the developers have posted the video on YouTube that marks the next record number - 50 million players.
The video marked the main highlights during the existence of the game:
- 158 million finishers used
- 1.23 billion ultimates activated
- 31 billion pings placed
- 170 million respawns
- 16.5 deathbox graveyards found
- 1 documented kill by Mozambique Shotgun (it’s a joke)
- “not enough” deaths by care packages
- famous GrndPaGaming, who makes no-scope triple kills
There was also noted a large number of artworks (sketches, drawings and cosplay), which were performed by game’s fans.
The rate of players growth in the game is impressive. For comparison, Apex Legends gained 25 million players in the first week. Fortnite scored 20 million only by the sixth week.
Behind all the admiration and records, there is still one long-standing question: for how long is this popularity and hype? The competently thoughtful launch of the game, about which no one heard beforehand. Attracting a massive number of currently popular streamers, which not only participate in tournaments, such as Twitch Rivals but also organise their own competitions like DrDisRespect’s Code Red. However, the statistics are relentless. Fortnite “breathes in the Apex Legends’ back”.
Fortnite bypassed Apex Legends on February 23 for the first time in a month, and on the last day of the month consolidated the result. The fall occurred when some streamers returned to Fortnite or alternated between both royal battles.
Do you think that Apex Legends will be able to maintain and strengthen its position, or will the old-Fortnite take away the leadership from it?
