Anthem was the best-selling title in February

Despite having a troubled launch, Anthem managed to draw enough attention in the United States to lead the February’s NPD chart in terms of software sales. The overall software market showed a steady growth of 15%, which is unsurprising because February was full of newly released major titles.
Sadly, there’re no exact numbers on Anthem and we don’t know for sure how well the game sold. There were reports regarding the game’s poor sales in the UK, although the US should be considered the primary market for the title. Being the best-selling title in February, the game is now also the second best release of 2019. NPD says that Anthem’s sales are also the second highest in the entire BioWare’s history after Mass Effect 3 (in terms of the launch month, of course). It is also worth noting that digital PC sales were not included in the NPD report, which means that the situation might be even more favourable for the game. It’s safe to say that these initial sales were high enough to secure BioWare’s future, which is rather questionable considering the poor performance of Mass Effect: Andromeda.
With that in mind, it is still hard to predict the further performance of Anthem. The game suffers from issues and bugs, although BioWare has already promised to fix the game. It’s nice to know, although it would’ve been a lot better to receive an unbroken game in the first place.
The top 10 best-selling February titles are the following:
- Anthem
- Jump Force
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Far Cry New Dawn
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Resident Evil 2 Remake
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Metro Exodus
- NBA 2K19
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
