Anthem turned out to be a major disappointment for the gaming community and the fans of BioWare. The game was received poorly with both critics’ and users’ average scores being humiliatingly low for a widely promoted high-budget title. As if it was not enough, the existing players are boycotting Anthem due to the decisions made by the developers.

The latest patch for the game addressed several concerns regarding the poor implementation of the loot system. With the update, players no longer encountered common and uncommon items after hitting level 30, which was like a breath of fresh air. Moreover, the loot drop rates became significantly better in the favour of players – until the developers rolled the changes back shortly afterwards bringing the game to its initial grinding stance. This resulted in a huge storm in the gaming community, and the players are now organizing a boycott against the title. They plan to completely ignore the game during the next four days (till March 15), and the original Reddit post has been already upvoted more than 10,000 times. In a few days, we’ll see whether this initiative has any effect on BioWare.

As a game, Anthem doesn’t have much to offer. The game forces you into mindless grinding, and the end-game content, which was supposed to be interesting and engaging, doesn’t bring any salvation. Add countless bugs to it, and the overall picture draws a poor future for the once beloved BioWare studio.
