Electronic Arts' looter shooter has recently been added to both its EA Access and Origin Access subscription services. This comes just about half a year since its release.
Anthem's February 22 launch date left many fans disappointed. During its development, BioWare had to keep reassuring gamers of the game's quality and its potential to rub shoulders with fellow looter shooter, Destiny 2. After how disappointed fans were with Mass Effect Andromeda, no one was taking any chances. Anthem was even compared to Warframe which bears very little similarities in gameplay mechanics and genre, in what seemed like hopeful expectation from overzealous fans.
With all the hype the game garnered, it suffered a big fall, from dwindling a rapidly player base to the departure of several key developers. Normally games would have been out for some time before joining subscription services and not just after seven months. However, things are changing, with games like Gears of War 5 releasing immediately to Xbox Game Pass.
The basic subscription tier costs $4.99 a month which isn't a bad price to try Anthem out for yourself, but the PC-only Origin Access Premier tier costs $15.99 and gives players access to the Legion of Dawn edition. This version gives you extra armour sets, a weapon and a soundtrack.
As bad as things might seem for Anthem, BioWare has made it clear that it hasn't given up on the game just yet. The long-awaited Cataclysm event finally launched in August after a long delay and updates are still being released to fix bugs and make improvements to the game.
