American McGee is working on Alice: Asylum

American McGee's Alice along with its sequel is among the most iconic gaming franchises ever thanks to its viciously gothic and grim visual style and storytelling, all of which led to an army of devoted fans emerging over the years. With this in mind, there’s no surprise that the demand for the official continuation of the story is extremely high.

The problem is that EA keeps the rights, but it seems like American McGee has found a solution. He is finally working on Alice: Asylum, which will serve as a prequel to the whole series and will feature the period of Alice’s life when she lost her parents and was struggling to keep her mind from falling apart. It is still unclear if EA will allow the full development, but there’re already four ways for fans to express their interest and provide support. Including sponsorship through Patreon, of course.

Right now McGee is working hard on “design, art, and story for the next chapter in Alice’s adventures”, and we’ll have to wait till the actual production of the game begins.
