AMD showed off 7nm 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs in action ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

AMD recently demonstrated 7nm 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs, and they are every bit as good as you would imagine. The new chips will be coming to the market in mid-2019, and they might get some of the clients Intel was hoping to keep with the Core i9-9xxx processors.

AMD CEO Lisa Su took the CES 2019 stage to show off the 3rd Gen Ryzen performance in comparison to Core i9-9900K at its stock frequency of 3.6GHz. The benchmark of the AMD chip resulted in a score of 2057 while Intel's product landed at 2040. It's not a far cry difference performance wise, but the main gap was revealed at power consumption: 3rd Gen Ryzen took 133W, and Core i9-9900K took 180W. That 30% difference is very significant when you consider overclocking and the cooling unit requirements.

The new AMD chips will be fully compatible with PCIe 4.0 standard motherboards and AM4 socket motherboards, although in case of the later you might need a BIOS update.

Soon after the Lisa Su presentation, Microsoft's Phil Spencer took the stage to talk about the future of Xbox. There's no secret about the fact that AMD is working with both Microsoft and Sony on their new generation of consoles. Mr. Spencer didn't reveal any specific details about the new Xbox, and only enigmatically hinted that the future is very bright.

As we look forward to future platforms that we’re building and work that we’re doing, the partnership and the innovations that we’ve seen in the past have led to what we’ve been able to do today, I think they’re going to be critically important to our future endeavors. I’m really looking forward to showing those to people more in the future.

With a 7nm GPUs and a 7nm CPUs the next year will be very excited indeed, so don't miss on a 4k monitor sale if you see one!
