Development team behind XCOM series made a real treat for the fans of XCOM universe. They announced the release of a mini-campaign “Legacy Ops” which takes place in the period between XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. Finally, we’ll find out how aliens took control over the Earth and where that human resistance came from.
In a video dedicated to the release creative director of XCOM game series Jake Solomon said:
Take on a series of back-to-back rapid-fire missions. There’s no strategy layer or base management, just tons of tense tactical combat… We created a ton of new maps many of which are actually remastered fan-favorite locations from “Enemy Unknown” and “Enemy Within”. We also thought that soldiers should look the part, so we brought back the armor and the weapons from those games as well.
Player will also be able to choose from 3 soundtracks, including remastered soundtrack from the original game (we gamers love nostalgic sentiment, don’t we). The new gear and an additional character will become available in “War of the Chosen”.
The campaign will be delivered on October 9 as a part of Tactical Legacy Pack DLC for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. The DLC also gives access to a new skirmish mode: players can set up their own missions and share them with friends in the form of a game save file.
