Despite the latest rumours that a new entry in the Splinter Cell series might be announced during Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 2019, the most recent report suggests otherwise; moreover, the game is apparently not even in development, which means we won’t hear anything in regards to Sam Fisher in the next few years.

The reported information is the result of another leak by Jason Schreier. Kotaku’s editor shared his insights during the Splitscreen podcast. According to his sources, Ubisoft is not working on Splinter Cell right now. Schreier talked to a bunch of people, and no one has confirmed that there is indeed a new game in development. This is actually very sad, as the last year’s return of Sam Fisher in Ghost Recon Wildlands was warmly welcomed by the fans – and it also raised hopes that there would be a proper continuation of his adventures in the form of a fully-fledged sequel. While Ubisoft clearly sees the demand for the next entry, the company seems to be doing nothing about that.

However, the game might simply be a very tightly kept secret, and Jason’s sources could’ve just been uninformed in regards to that. One way or another, the truth will be definitely unveiled during Ubisoft’s press conference. You can check the schedule here.
